Do you spend endless hours scrolling through your Instagram feed looking at perfectly edited photos of bloggers and think to yourself… How do they do it? How did they know where to begin? How did they learn to promote their content? How have they become so influential? Having been a blogger myself, I have had countless questions and comments over the years from people eager to discover just what it takes to become a blogger. In most cases, these questions came from people who wanted to start a blog but couldn’t get motivated enough to set one up, or from people who once had a blog, but ended up neglecting it and letting it slip by the wayside.
So, if you feel that you fit into either of those categories, I have 5 reasons why 2019 will be your year for blogging. Are you ready?
The Future is Digital
Over the last few years, there has been a huge boom in digital media with online audience numbers experiencing continuous growth. With captive audiences now viewing content on the internet, brands have taken notice and are now allocating more of their marketing budgets to digital media. This means that it is a great opportunity to put your brand in front of companies to work on collaborations and partnerships.
The Internet Needs Your Voice
When asked the question, ‘What makes your blog special?’ one of the main answers should be, your voice. Your unique writing style and tone of voice is a key driver behind maintaining a loyal readership. The internet may be saturated with people sharing their opinions but no one will do it quite in the same way as you. By developing your own tone of voice and personal brand, you will attract like-minded individuals and create a community of people who engage and react to your work.
Take a Break From The Mundane
When I first started blogging, I was back in high school and I used my blog as a creative escape from academic life. Little did I know back then quite how far it would take me. If you feel like you are stuck in a rut and need some creative inspiration, why not start blogging about things that inspire you? Quickly, you will find others that are also inspired by similar things as you and you will enrich your cultural knowledge by discovering new things that make your heart sing.
Always Room For More
Someone once described the fashion blogging industry as a cake. The more influential the blogger, the bigger their slice of the cake was. They explained that there was only a limited supply of cake to go around but there was always enough to share. Cake analogy over, the bottom line is that regardless of how saturated you may feel the market has become, there is always room for one more. After all, change is a good thing as it will keep the industry evolving.
Just Go For It
There is no better time to start blogging than now. You don’t have to have a degree in journalism or a photographer boyfriend to take all your photos, you simply need time and motivation. While at the beginning you may feel like you are sending your blog posts out into thin air, in two or three years time you will have a large body of work to be proud of and hopefully will have amassed a loyal following who latch onto your every word. You can do this!!
